AFRECS maintains a registry of requested project support from Sudan and its neighboring countries for individuals or institutions looking for ways to help. Following please find more details about this initiative, and links to a summary of each proposed project.

Students at school under a tree in Konbek, Sudan.
History:
Americans who visit Sudan often return to the United States with large numbers of financial requests from bishops, clergy, dioceses and individuals. Deciding how to circulate, publicize and fulfill even a few of the requests is often a source of great distress. Sometimes, American visitors manage to circulate requests widely upon their return to the US; occasionally they do not circulate them at all. The Sudanese, with few practical means of making their needs known, are left without knowing whether their funding requests are known to interested Americans. Return to Top
AFRECS Initiative:
To give
Sudanese brothers and sisters a means of making their needs known to the
widest possible audience, AFRECS will employ its website (www.afrecs.org)
to post a summary of all appropriate proposals submitted to the
organization. Anyone in the world with an interest in Sudan and access
to the Internet will be able to view these funding proposals on AFRECS
Project Registry. For each appropriate proposal submitted to AFRECS a
summary will be prepared and posted to the website
For each proposal submitted to AFRECS and determined to be appropriate
by AFRECS, a summary will be prepared and posted to the website. AFRECS
will maintain a copy of the complete proposal and stand ready to make
copies available to interested donors upon request. Individuals who
request a proposal will assume full responsibility for researching the
project and ascertaining its accuracy, worthiness, and arrangements for
accountability.
While AFRECS is not a funding organization and does not have the
capacity to evaluate individual proposals, or to make recommendations or
endorse one proposal over another, it can nevertheless play a crucial
role in connecting people, needs, and resources. AFRECS Project Registry
will be an important part of making these connections.
This service of AFRECS is intended to:
-
Enhance awareness of, and give greater publicity to, the needs of the Episcopal Church of Sudan and people throughout Sudan
