While Darryl and I made it home to Richmond safely late this afternoon, Jim and Mary should now be in Nairobi where they will remain until Saturday, November 17 when they fly back to the US.
Please continue to keep Jim and Mary in prayer as they continue to plan for Hope and Resurrection's operation next spring. In Nairobi, they will meet with a Kenyan secondary school to learn more about the Kenyan curriculum which we will also use in our school, shop for and price textbooks and items they will need to set up their household in Atiaba, Sudan. They are likely feeling a bit weary and most certainly tired of strange food at this point. At least the weather is cooler there and they will have hot showers!Jim and Mary did very well for their first visit to Sudan. They endured the heat (which they attribute to their hiking) and everything else which one faces in a new environment. We accomplished a great deal while in Sudan. We ordered desks and furniture for four classrooms and the teacher's office which will be constructed locally, got information necessary to finalize the start up and operating budgets for the school, spent a great deal of time working with Bishop Alapayo and Bishop Isaac, saw the school, Maker's family and Sunday and Gideon's father, worshipped at the church in Rumbek, have a clearer idea of whom some teachers may be and good leads on a headmaster. We made new friends and, as always, enjoyed the gracious welcoming and hospitality we received from the Sudanese people. Our trip was successful in large part to the prayers for us, thanks for playing this important role in our trip!Blessings,Jennifer and Darryl
