Helen Perry Grimwood
Helen Perry Grimwood, a founder of The Grimwood Law Firm in
Phoenix, is the president of the State Bar of Arizona. A respected 25-year
legal veteran, Grimwood’s practice focuses on commercial and employment
litigation. She resolves business disputes and deals with the fallout of
financial failures. Her work has earned her the highest distinction for
professional skill and integrity – an “AV” rating – from Martindale-Hubbell,
a national firm that rates attorneys.
Grimwood is an experienced mediator and arbitrator in civil matters. She
serves on the American Arbitration Association Commercial Litigation
Advisory Committee, and as a judge pro tempore for the Arizona Court of
Appeals and the Maricopa County Superior Court.
Grimwood’s leadership and commitment to serving others is evident in both
the legal community and in the public sector. She is a past president of the
Arizona Women’s Lawyers Association, founding co-president of the Lorna
Lockwood Inn of Court, and a former board member of the National Conference
of Women Bar Associations and the Maricopa County Bar Association. She has
also chaired the State Bar’s Finance, Discipline Oversight, and Rules
Committees.
Ms. Grimwood’s tireless work has earned her honors, including the Sarah
Herring Sorin Award for promoting the success of women in the profession and
the Frank X. Gordon Award for outstanding pro bono service. Her numerous
legal lectures and training earned her the Kenneth D. Freeman Award for
excellence in continuing legal education. She has also been elected as a
fellow to the American Bar Foundation.
As part of her commitment to helping others, Grimwood coordinates the All
Saints’ Sudanese education program, which provides tutoring and scholarship
assistance to many of the Sudanese refugees living in Phoenix. She has
donated and coordinated legal assistance to them as well as training in
American life and culture.
Ms. Grimwood graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University’s
College of Law and is a Phoenix native.
