Helen Perry Grimwood, a founder of The Grimwood Law Firm in Phoenix, is the president of the State Bar of Arizona. A respected 25-year legal veteran, Grimwood’s practice focuses on commercial and employment litigation. She resolves business disputes and deals with the fallout of financial failures. Her work has earned her the highest distinction for professional skill and integrity – an “AV” rating – from Martindale-Hubbell, a national firm that rates attorneys.

Grimwood is an experienced mediator and arbitrator in civil matters. She serves on the American Arbitration Association Commercial Litigation Advisory Committee, and as a judge pro tempore for the Arizona Court of Appeals and the Maricopa County Superior Court.

Grimwood’s leadership and commitment to serving others is evident in both the legal community and in the public sector. She is a past president of the Arizona Women’s Lawyers Association, founding co-president of the Lorna Lockwood Inn of Court, and a former board member of the National Conference of Women Bar Associations and the Maricopa County Bar Association. She has also chaired the State Bar’s Finance, Discipline Oversight, and Rules Committees.

Ms. Grimwood’s tireless work has earned her honors, including the Sarah Herring Sorin Award for promoting the success of women in the profession and the Frank X. Gordon Award for outstanding pro bono service. Her numerous legal lectures and training earned her the Kenneth D. Freeman Award for excellence in continuing legal education. She has also been elected as a fellow to the American Bar Foundation.

As part of her commitment to helping others, Grimwood coordinates the All Saints’ Sudanese education program, which provides tutoring and scholarship assistance to many of the Sudanese refugees living in Phoenix. She has donated and coordinated legal assistance to them as well as training in American life and culture.

Ms. Grimwood graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University’s College of Law and is a Phoenix native.
