Nancy Mott Frank
Nancy’s eyes opened early to the cultural aspect of the world
through her experience as an AFS exchange student to Istanbul, Turkey and a
Junior Year abroad in Rouen, France. She became Mission Coordinator at St.
Paul’s Episcopal Church in 1992 and loved that job for 11 ½ years. The Rev.
Dr. Marc Nikkel, missionary from the Episcopal and Anglican Church, visited
the congregation several times. Nancy fundraised and planned several of
Marc’s marathon American trips for several months each time. She joined a
national delegation visit to southern Bor, Yomchiir, in 1998 and has visited
Sudan and Kakuma Refugee Camp several times since.
She was graduated with a BA in French from St. Lawrence University. She and
her husband Bob have spent most of their lives in Rochester, NY, where they
raised their children, Wright and Libby. While the children were growing,
Nancy was a community volunteer serving on many local boards. She notes that
she has worked to form 4 new non profits in her volunteer life, Project
Intervention- a drug and alcohol education awareness training agency; The
Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network—which provides shelter, meals
& intensive case management for homeless families; Water for Sudan, Inc. –
Sudanese Refugee Salva Dut’s dream to provide water to South Sudan; and now
AFRECS.
Nancy loves to downhill ski, walk, cook, knit, read and just “be” at her
summer cottage on Lake Ontario. Since retirement from her job at St. Paul’s
in 2003, she has missed active involvement in Sudanese work and issues and
she looks forward to that once again as Executive Director of AFRECS.
