AFRECS Advocacy Day Rescheduled
March 25, 2010
Law Offices of Patton Boggs, LLP
550 M Street, NW
Washington, DC
The American Friends of the Episcopal Church of Sudan (AFRECS)
has rescheduled its advocacy day for March 25th, 2010, at the offices of
Patton Boggs at 2550 M Street, NW, Washington, DC. Unfortunately, our
earlier event was cancelled because of the snow storm. We shall discuss
the current crisis in Sudan and actions needed to protect the peace in
Sudan.
Our session will begin at 10 a.m. and end at noon when a light lunch
will be served. We expect AFRECS board members and other friends of
AFRECS to visit their respective Congressional delegations, asking them
to take steps to support the faithful implementation of the
Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) which serves as the framework for
peace in Sudan. In addition, we will be seeking support for Senate
resolution 404 which calls on our Government to take decisive steps to
uphold and fully implement the provisions of the CPA. AFRECS is also
seeking a full and transparent accounting of how fairly oil revenue is
being shared, since these revenues are especially critical to further
development in South Sudan. The morning session will give attention to
these issues so that those carrying messages to Congressional offices
will have clear guidance as to the issues that matter to AFRECS.
For more information, contact Susan Jones, our office administrator at
officemanager@afrecs.org. Please move quickly to secure Congressional
appointments so that our voice and that of our friends in Sudan is
heard.
